Brown set to return for United

04/23/2009 - Manchester, England (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Manchester United is confident Wes Brown will be able to return to action in the weekend clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 29-year-old England international, who has not started a first-team game since October because of a foot injury, proved his fitness in a reserve-team match earlier in the week.

It will be a timely return as Gary Neville and John O'Shea both picked up injuries in the midweek win against Portsmouth and face several weeks on the sidelines.

"Wes is fine. He's training hard and should be OK for the weekend," confirmed United's assistant manager Mike Phelan.

Meanwhile, Phelan said of Neville's injury: "Gary's struggling. He had a nasty cut on the inside of his foot that required stitches, so it'll be pretty sore for a couple of days."

Rio Ferdinand is expected to feature against Spurs after missing the victory against Pompey as a precaution.

Sir Alex Ferguson opted to rest Ferdinand, who played for 120 minutes in Sunday's FA Cup semifinal defeat to Everton, only the second game of his comeback from a groin injury.
